Event 02

The Jakiri Council was established by Presidential Decree as part of Cameroon’s decentralization framework. It shares the same administrative boundaries as the Jakiri Sub-Division, which was also created by decree. Since its establishment, the Jakiri Council has been administered by successive mayors and municipal executives in accordance with national laws on local government. Traditional authority within the Jakiri area continues to be exercised by the recognized traditional institutions, which play an important role in preserving local customs, social cohesion, and cultural heritage.
